I’m a young P plater and if I do say so myself, I’m a very good driver. I got my license on my first try, so I’d have to be good at it. I don’t see anything pointing in the direction of me not being able to drive properly and safely. My parents, however, disagree and want me to take a safe driving course that teaches me what to do in the case of a crash. I’m too good a driver to ever crash, which is what I tried to tell them. They said that the very reason I have to do this course is because of saying things like that.
I find it pretty annoying that my parents are making me do this, but they said they’d take away my car if I can’t prove that I know how to use the brake and clutch with absolute certainty. I’m sure I could prove that now, but apparently, that’s not something that can be proven until after the driving course. It seems fishy but I guess I don’t really have a choice.
So yeah, on Monday I have to take a whole day off uni to do this safe drivers course. Apparently, I have to drive around cones and stuff for eight hours. I’m not sure how that’s going to help me become a better driver than I already am, seeing as I drive in real-life conditions already, but it is what it is I guess. If I complain my parents will just take my car away from me, and that means I won’t be able to go through the local drive through with all my mates. My mates are counting on me to drive them.
It’s also a requirement that I get a car service in Bankstown before doing the safe drivers course. I refuse to pay for this myself seeing as my car doesn’t even need a service and I’m being forced to do the course, so my parents can deal with that one.
